Hemispheres and Rhapsody are the award-winning onboard magazines for United Airlines. The magazines are published by Ink and produced by a dedicated staff of media professionals out of an Ink satellite office in Brooklyn, New York.
Hemispheres is the flagship magazine for United. In addition to its signature “Three Perfect Days” feature—which offers a first-person, itinerary-style, nooks-and-crannies portrait of a city—Hemispheres covers global culture, adventure, business, and sports. Our writers and photographers have been all over the world: marching with a Jewish Mardi Gras krewe in New Orleans; uncovering Maya ruins with an archaeologist in the Yucatán; ringside at a Muay Thai boxing match in a Thai prison; taming wild horses in Texas; competing in a 1,000-mile car rally race across Newfoundland; hunting lionfish off the coast of Belize; helping to protect American black bears in Yosemite; and surfing giant waves off the coast of Portugal.
Rhapsody is the luxury lifestyle and literary magazine for the premium cabins of United. Less than two years after its November 2013 launch, , calling the magazine “the Paris Review of the air.” In addition to celebrity profiles and coverage of fine dining, high fashion, and luxury hotels, Rhapsody publishes ruminative travel features and travel essays by some of the world’s most celebrated literary figures: Rick Moody on the Aran Islands; McArthur Genius grant–winner Aleksandar Hemon on skiing Gstaad; Joyce Carol Oates on her first flight; former US Poet Laureate Billy Collins on flying with Shakespeare; and Pulitzer Prize–winner Anthony Doerr on skiing legend Lindsey Vonn.
